Living next to Dartmoor and within easy reach of the sea, I am drawn inexorably by the challenges of landscape painting. I try to capture an impression or mood in acrylic, oil, chalk or a mixture of media, abstracting, elongating or dreaming the geography or season.

I have become increasingly interested in the ways of portraying movement and the potential offered by using film, digital images or sound. Having always been particularly drawn to artists like Hodgkin and Matisse and their vivid use of colour, I seem to be equally concerned with shape and texture and thinking more 3-dimensionally.

I enjoy exploring conceptual areas of art and am drawn by the possibilities of installations and audio-visual pieces. At the same time, I always return to drawing and painting as a way of recording life and expressing myself.
